Cancionero Amoroso (“Love [or ‘Loving’] Song Book”) is as simple and straightforward a piece as
I have written in many years. Commissioned jointly by San Francisco based Volti and San Juan, Puerto
Rico based Orfeón San Juan Bautista, the Cancionero Amoroso is a collection of five love songs in
different languages (Spanish, German, French, Italian and English). I have not attempted to do
anything profound in these pieces, other than write as beautiful music as I possibly can. These songs
are meant as honest, simple, tender celebrations of love.
